The biggest AR network in WA isn't from WA

3 FINDINGS
Where the networks' ARs and CARs were registered at 23 September 2026, and which networks hold each state.
  1. CBN, licensed in Victoria, has 136 ARs and CARs in WA. That is more than WA's three home-grown networks combined: Apollo Risk 53, Oracle Group 37 and Triton 27, or 117. Across WA, Victorian-licensed networks hold 228 of the state's 561 network ARs and CARs, and WA-licensed networks 198.
  2. Scale means crossing state lines. 83% of networks with fewer than 10 ARs sit entirely in one state, and every network with 50 or more is in at least two. Only four reach all eight states and territories: CBN, Insurance Advisernet, Ausure and McLardy McShane.
  3. Home-grown vs imported. Two-thirds of Victoria's network ARs and CARs belong to Victorian-licensed networks, CBN and McLardy McShane among them. In WA it is about a third, and none of the NT's 44 belong to an NT-licensed network.
The heatmap02 / 03
Heatmap table of the top 20 GI broker networks at 23 September 2026, one column per state and territory. Each cell gives the network's ARs and CARs registered in that state and that count as a share of the network's total, shaded by the share. CBN (1,127), Insurance Advisernet (857), Ausure (639) and McLardy McShane (597) have ARs in all eight states and territories. The darkest cells are Triton (WA) with 100% of its 27 in WA, QIB Commercial with 92% in Queensland, Apollo Risk with 91% in WA and Coverforce Partners with 81% in NSW. All networks: 5,670, of which NSW 29%, VIC 27%, QLD 24%, WA 10% and SA 8%.

Data notes

Source: ASIC AFS Licensee and Authorised Representative registers (data.gov.au), data to 23 September 2026. GI-primary networks, individual ARs plus corporate ARs; an AR that moves between networks is counted once, at the newer network. Location is the registered principal business address on the AR register: where the office is, not where its clients or risks are. A network's home state, used for the home-grown comparisons, is the licensee's own registered address. Some networks register newly transferred ARs at the parent's address, which makes an AR look as though it has moved state; a network move almost never coincides with a physical move, so the 275 ARs registered at Ausure's Brisbane head office are counted in their 1 April 2026 states. Five Aviso Group Partners ARs at Warragul VIC 3820 are registered with state WA, a register typo, so its WA count is overstated by five and VIC understated by five. Even with those fixes, register errors will leave an estimated 1–3% of ARs in the wrong state. These numbers are one view and a starting point for a conversation: every network has a culture, offering and capability the register cannot capture.
